Neuroart Contest starts with neuroscience lectures at the participating schools

The Neuroart Contest takes on a new phase, after selecting its ten participating centers. Over the upcoming months, researchers Alba Andrés, Ester Gratacòs and Noemi Lamonja, from the Institute of Neurosciences, will offer lectures at the schools, about the nervous system (structure, functions and plasticity). The aim of these sessions is to offer an introduction to neurosciences so that students can work on the concepts from a plastic perspective.

Selected centers:

  • Institut El Til·ler (les Franqueses del Vallès)
  • Institut Jaume Callís (Vic)Neuroart
  • Institut Juan Manuel Zafra (Barcelona)
  • Escola Santa Maria dels Apòstols (Barcelona)
  • Escola Molina (Barcelona)
  • Col·legi Jesús-Maria Claudina Thévenet (Barcelona)
  • Institut Duc de Montblanc (Rubí)
  • Institut de l’Alt Foix (Sant Martí Sarroca)
  • Institut Ribera del Sió (Agramunt)
  • Institut Salas i Xandri (Sant Quirze del Vallès)

Students will present their works in a final session, on June 8, in which a specialized jury will chose the winners of this first edition of the contest.

Neuroart: the University of Barcelona, through the Institute of Neurosciences and the collaboration of the Faculty of Fine Arts, is organizing the Neuroart Contest. This science dissemination project aims to encourage children and youngsters to create artistic representations of the nervous system: structure, functions and plasticity.
