MindFit Conference: Stroke, neurorehabilitation and daily life

The MindFit Project, funded by the La Marató de TV3 Foundation, ended in July 2021 with the participation of more than 170 people who had suffered a stroke. This project, which aims to investigate the beneficial effects of exercise, mindfulness and cognitive training on patient recovery, has been led by Dr. Maria Mataró, member of the Institute of Neurosciences of the UB and her team from the Dept. of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology, and carried out in collaboration with the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital and the Guttmann Institute of Neurorehabilitation.

On November 20, 2021, at the Mundet Campus of the University of Barcelona, the “MindFit Conference: Stroke, neurorehabilitation and daily life” was held. The participants of the study were invited with the main objective of being a meeting point, to meet in person after so many months seeing each other through a screen due to the pandemic and, above all, to celebrate together (researchers and participants) what they have built together.

The event consisted of small workshops on healthy living habits, strategies for caring emotional health and digital solutions to enhance recovery after stroke.

The Conference was very successful: more than 100 people, including patients, companions and members of the research team.

Mindfit is certainly a program that has had a very positive impact on people who have suffered a stroke and who have followed their neurorehabilitation digitally in order to maintain the best possible quality of life.
