Almudena Campuzano, Knowledge Transfer Manager at UBneuro, presenting the context and objectives of the new Cognitive Neuroscience Unit at the Institute of Neurosciences.
On June 30th, 2025, we launched the first meeting of the Business Advisory Board (BAB) of the Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Barcelona (UBneuro) to discuss strategies for knowledge transfer, innovation, and collaboration with industry in the field of neuroscience.
The Board, composed of Carolina Aguilar (Inbrain Neuroelectronics), Esther Riambau (Oniria Therapeutics), and Ignasi Sahún (ZeNEUROID), contributes strategic insight and expertise from the biomedical and neurotechnology sectors to guide the Institute’s innovation and transfer initiatives.
From the Institute, the attendees included Jordi Alberch, Director of the Institute of Neurosciences; Cristina de la Malla, Deputy director; Almudena Campuzano, Knowledge Transfer Manager; Cristina Pulido, Research Manager; Ruben Perellón and Andrea Marín, Technicians of the Cognitive Neuroscience Unit.
UBneuro team presented the knowledge transfer strategy of the Institute of Neurosciences, discussing key topics such as funding opportunities, state of the art technology adquistion, and the positioning of UBneuro within the broader UB innovation ecosystem. The session highlighted the Cognitive Neuroscience Unit, our newly established facility designed to promote applied research, technological innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a guided tour of the Unit, featuring the state-of-the-art laboratories equipped for cognitive neuroscience research highlighting the non-invasive brain stimulation neuronavigated techniques. The BAB members gave valuable feedback on the potential of the new space and provided recommendations for the upcoming innovation and transfer initiatives of the Unit.
The BAB meeting reinforced UBneuro’s commitment to bridging research and industry, and to advancing neuroscience innovation through strategic and collaborative efforts.
