Marianna Spatola
Neuroimmunological Crosstalk in Infections and Brain Autoimmunity (ImmuBRAIN)
Her research focuses on the neuroimmunological mechanisms of infectious and autoimmune encephalitis, with an emphasis on the interaction between antibodies and innate immunity, as well as the role of viruses in triggering brain autoimmunity. She has a strong international track record and has received competitive European and national funding. Her work has been recognized with the Faculty of Lausanne Prize, the AAN Top Science distinction, the Neurovirology Prize, and her appointment as a Fellow of the AAN.
