On July 2nd, the Aula de Graus at the Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona, was buzzing with energy as UBneuro held its Junior Researchers’ Meeting 2025 — a full-day gathering dedicated to celebrating and empowering early-career scientists within the institute.
The event brought together a vibrant community of junior researchers who showcased the depth and diversity of neuroscience being developed across UBneuro, from cellular mechanisms and behavior to language, pain, and disease modeling. The day blended scientific presentations, collaborative discussions, and playful moments, reminding us that impactful research grows best in a strong, supportive environment.
The morning opened with a warm welcome from institute leaders, followed by two dynamic research sessions and a creative team-building activity — “Isla Maians y el Tesoro de Barbaroja” — where pirate logic and group strategy took over the scientific method for a while.
One of the day’s highlights was the afternoon round table, “From Bench to Leadership,” where four outstanding PIs shared personal stories and insights about navigating the transition from junior researcher to lab leader. Honest, inspiring, and relatable, the session sparked many meaningful conversations that carried on well past the closing remarks.
This meeting was more than just an academic event — it was a clear reflection of the talent, curiosity, and community spirit driving the next generation of neuroscience at UBneuro.
To all who joined, contributed, presented, and participated: you made this day a huge success!
