Deep Tech Brain: Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Neuroimaging, and Neuromodulation
Postgraduate course | Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UB
The Postgraduate course of Deep Tech Brain offers a unique opportunity to explore the latest in deep tech through 4 specialized online modules and an on-site Summer School—completely free of charge for this edition!
Whether you’re interested in AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity, or data engineering, you can enroll in one, two, three, or all four modules—but we highly recommend following them simultaneously for the full experience. Each module has its own start date and separate registration process, so be sure to check the individual links for full details.
Microcredentials: 4 Expert-Led Modules in English
The course introduces the fundamental principles of immersive technologies, including Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality. Students will learn how to develop and customize virtual environments using the Unity platform, focusing on applications for neuroscience research and the clinical field. The cognitive and neurobiological effects of Virtual Reality in neuropsychological rehabilitation and evaluation will also be discussed.
The course covers basic concepts of artificial intelligence (AI) and applications in neuroscience and health. It includes theory on machine learning, neural networks and ethics in AI, with programming practices in Python. Integration with virtual reality, neuroimaging and neuromodulation is being worked on, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration between technology and health.
The course introduces the physical and physiological bases of non-invasive neuromodulation techniques, such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation. Students will learn how to design and apply neuromodulation protocols for research and clinical application. Its integration with neuroimaging, virtual reality and artificial intelligence will also be explored to optimize therapeutic interventions.
The course offers training in structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography, addressing its physical and physiological principles and safety requirements. Students will learn data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation with open-source tools. Its integration with artificial intelligence, virtual reality and neuromodulation will also be explored, for applications in research and clinical diagnosis.
Microcredencial in Deep Tech Brain: Face-to-Face | Summer School
This summer school is part of the teaching project “Deep Tech Brain: Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Neuroimaging, and Neuromodulation” and will be held at the new Cognitive Neuroscience Unit of the Mundet campus and at the Guttmann Neurorehabilitation Hospital in Barcelona. For five consecutive days, students will have the opportunity to participate in a practical and unique training experience on the innovative application of these technologies, both in basic neuroscience research and in their more experimental implementation in the clinical field.
