On Thursday, June 6th, 2024, La Muriel hosted the second edition of Neurobrews, an evening where neuroscience took center stage—alongside cold drinks and lively conversation. Organized by the PhD Committee of the Institute of Neurosciences at the University of Barcelona, the event offered a relaxed space for science lovers to connect and learn outside the lab.

The lineup featured six engaging talks from emerging researchers:
Xavier Bech explored the power of in vivo cell reprogramming to boost neurogenesis; Michele de Prisco addressed the emotional regulation challenges in bipolar disorder; Brenda Ryan presented remote self-counselling techniques using VR. After a short break, Xavier Picañol questioned oversimplified views of pain; Alba Ortega dove into the biology of memory and neurogenesis; and Gerard Anmella introduced speech analysis as a tool to better diagnose and monitor bipolar disorder.

With science, community, and curiosity in the air, the night was a success—thanks in large part to the dedication of the PhD Committee: Siham Ijjou, Clara Romera, Raquel Alsina, Pol Garcia, and Irene Rodríguez.

Once again, Neurobrews proved that complex ideas can thrive in informal settings—especially when served with a pint.
