On 2–3 December 2025, Barcelona hosted the Pledgers’ Share & Connect event, organised by the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative and co-hosted by the University of Barcelona. The gathering brought together the growing community of the Initiative, its Pledgers, to exchange practical insights on developing deep tech training programmes, share best practices, and explore opportunities for collaboration across Europe.

The Institute of Neurosciences of the University of Barcelona (UBneuro) was represented by Dr Ruben Perellón Alfonso, Lead Scientist of our Cognitive Neuroscience Unit and Director of the Deep Tech Brain microcredential programme. Just a few weeks after accepting, on behalf of the University of Barcelona, the second-place Trainer of the Year award in the University category, Dr Perellón joined once again an Initiative’s community event and contributed to its agenda.

During the session titled “Raising the Bar in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Education: Science, Training, and Clinical Practice,” Dr Perellón presented the latest advances in non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), training for both research and clinical contexts. The workshop also included a live demonstration of the technique using the equipment available at UBneuro’s Cognitive Neuroscience Unit.

Aligned with the goals of the event, the session focused on sharing actionable insights and lessons learned in course design, learner engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of training models that bridge science, technology, and healthcare. Participants discussed common challenges and emerging opportunities for collaboration across the EIT Deep Tech Talent ecosystem.

The contribution of UBneuro to this event reinforces our commitment to advancing high-quality training in neuroscience, an effort already recognised earlier this year through the selection of the Deep Tech Brain programme as one of the winning projects of the EIT Deep Tech Talent’s Call for Training Proposals 2024, and the University of Barcelona’s Trainer of the Year award within the Pledger Community.

We congratulate all participating Pledgers for their dedication to strengthening Europe’s deep tech skills landscape, and we look forward to continued collaboration in future activities.

Deep Tech Brain programme

Developed with funding from the EIT Deep Tech Talent’s Call for Training Proposals 2024, Deep Tech Brain is an innovative microcredential programme in collaboration with Institut Guttmann. It creates a unique educational space where professionals in deep tech and neuroscience connect through interdisciplinary training.
