UBneuro commemorates International Day of Girls and Women in Science

The event featured the screening of two documentaries, one showing a possible research career and another highlighting the obstacles encountered by women pursuing careers in science.

In celebration of the International Day of Girls and Women in Science, the ICCUB with UBneuro, IQTC, the Faculty of Physics, the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, and IN2UB hosted a compelling event shedding light on the challenges faced by women in the field of science.

Following the screenings, a panel discussion was held, featuring professionals and advocates in different fiels: Sònia Estradé (Physics), Marina Martínez (Geology), Regina Galcerán (IN2UB), Marina Corbella (IQTC). Participants engaged in thought-provoking conversations about the importance of fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for women in science, as well as strategies to combat gender-based discrimination and violence in research settings.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the invaluable contributions of girls and women to the field of science, while also highlighting the persistent challenges that continue to hinder their advancement. Through education, advocacy, and collective action, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering girls and women to pursue their passions in science.
