La Marató 2016 gives the grants for research on ictus and traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries

Researchers awarded in the 2016 edition for la Marató de TV3

The 2016 edition for la Marató de TV3, dedicated to research on ictus and traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries, has given a total of 11,3 million euros to 70 research teams. La Marató will promote 37 research projects to find progresses on prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of motor, sensitive, cognitive disabilities caused by these lesions. Twelve of the awarded projects have the participation of of research teams of the University of Barcelona, and two UB-affiliated research institutes.

With these new thirty-seven projects, la Marató reaches its 794 launched projects in its twenty five years of history, which brought important results in people’s health and notable progresses in knowledge, prevention, prognostic and treatment of several diseases. The awarded research teams in the 2016 edition received the grants in a ceremony held in the Catalan and Balearic Academy of Medical Sciences and Health on Tuesday, October 26, and presided over by Albert Barberà, director-general of Research and Innovation at the Department of Health; Diego Palao, second vice-president of the Academy, and Lluís Bernabé, director of La Marató de TV3 Foundation.
