Last week, the Institute of Neurosciences UB sponsored the Pint of Science Festival in Barcelona. Pint of Science is a non-profit organization that brings some exceptional scientists to a local pub to talk about their latest research over a pint of beer with interested citizens.

The festival began in London in 2013 and has since spread to nearly 300 cities in dozens of countries around the world, providing an informal platform for dialogue between the STEM community and curious members of the public, with no prior subject knowledge required.

Several researchers from the Institute of Neurosciences UB volunteered and joined this initiative to share the value of their research with society.

Some of the sessions were:

20 May – Polaroid bar

¿Qué puede hacer la Neurociencia para combatir la obesidad?

Dra. Maria Angeles Jurado Luque

21 May – Polaroid bar

Evolución del cerebro ¿Somos la especie más inteligente?

MD. Dr. Jordi Alberch Vié, director of the Institute of Neurosciences UB

22 May – La Iguana

¿La conectividad del cerebro es diferente en función de tu identidad degenero?

Carme Uribe Codesal
